Mu Chapter inducted three new members on February 13, 2020. Cameron Covolo is a middle grades language arts teacher at Rocky Mount Academy, and she was sponsored by Kim Lehnes. Carol Price is a STEM teacher at Vick Elementary School in Wilson, who was sponsored by Melissa Baker. Donacine Vandelli is a technology teacher at Rocky Mount High School, and she was sponsored by Eva Bulluck. Congratulations and welcome to our newest members!
Mu Chapter members learned about Schools in Africa at the meeting on February 13, 2020.
Mu Chapter members prepared "care packages" for student teachers at Barton College. The teacher candidates were very pleased to receive the packages, and they greatly appreciated the support that was shown to them as they prepare to enter the classroom next fall.
Mu Chapter honored Sierra Hearp with the Kate Parks Kitchin Grant-in-Aid on February 13, 2020. Sierra is majoring in Middle School Mathematics Education at Barton College and is currently student teaching at Rocky Mount Middle School. She plans to complete the teacher education program in May 2020 and begin teaching middle school mathematics in the fall. Pictured below are Sierra, her mother, and Dr. Barbara Mize, a member of Mu Chapter and the Barton College Director of Field Experience. Congratulations, Sierra.
Mu Chapter enjoyed participating in the Tri-Chapter of Beta Theta, Gamma Lambda, and Mu Chapters. This year, the meeting was hosted by Beta Theta was held at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church.
Mu Chapter celebrated its 75th birthday on February 11, 2018 at Benvenue Country Club.
